Are you up to your eyeballs in snow yet???
We really are in snow-day today... very blowy and the plows have not yet hit our road! very pretty and so we wil devorate the tree today.
Horses are actually in the barn for the night.... they are usually out 24/7 but there is no point in puttin gout hay in this wind as it will just blow away.
IT really is hard to work with horses in wointer. We will be getting the sleigh out...? tomorrow after we dig out!
It is somewhat encourageing to know that if we had to get any where we could actually hitch a pair and go!.
Is there a barn near you where you could ride and enjoy your horse?
I know that when my daughter was riding, we did move her horse to a nearby staable where she could ride daily and her coach could come for lessons. It meant that when the spring shows started m she was ready and the horse was fit.
If you are heading to our area, the offer to come and visit is always there.. just give us a call or e-mail.
Have a merry Christmas and a wonderful New Year!
Where are you located Susan? We welcome visitors to come and see our horses any time.
Do you have trails to go out on near your place? How is the winter riding these days?
We will be able to get the sleigh out soon I think.... we already have a fari amount of snow here.
Horses are all woolly and a bit lazy as we do not ride them and have not had the carraige out in several weeks.
Got to go as we have friends from the city coming out to see the horses... they are bring other peole who want to learn more about the Canadian Horse. This is always a great opportunity to let the public know about our wonderful horses.
If you are in the area, there are several good breeders nearby who are also happy to show off their horses.
Happy trails!
Frances

I know what you mean about electronic communication, although my kids (15 and 21) hav helped me to get more comfortable with this, texting, etc. It sure is helpful when you're home at odd hours! We're even thinking of disconnecting the home phone soon...
I'm off to the barn. We "rough board" at a place just down the road. Basically, we rent stalls and paddock space and have use of the indoor arena. We buy all of our own hay, grain and bedding and do all of the work. I decided that if I made myself valuable to the owner, she'd want to keep us on, so I feed the other 7 horses every morning when I go to feed and turn out ours :) It's a great way to start the day. I'm a bit late today, as we have the day off from school.

Hi Susan, and welcome! It sounds like Gus has found a wonderful new home. I read your discussion about his nervousness. Is he used to coming into a stall at night? Sometimes, a horse who isn't used to being cooped up will not adjust easily to it. Just an idea. Glad to hear he likes going out on trails, though. That's hard to teach. I use natural horsemanship (Parelli) with my mare, Marina and she is learning to be more confident. She's also learned that she can trust me to be a good leader.
