Kanuc looks striking with those feathers. I think they add so much to the presentation. nice photos. He looks like a big solid guy. Congratulations to you and enjoy.
I finished the web site last night so now there's something else for you to look at. I'm launching my new business today and Griffon was the model for my sample video.
I'm not too proud of the videography on this one - it was the first time I used a camera stabilization system and unfortunately it takes a bit of practice to make it work properly. But I needed something on the web for clients to look at because my first ad comes out today. There's a 45 minute video and about 20 subclips extracted from the original of Griffon doing various horsie things. That's my husband riding.
How are Kanuc's gaits? He's eight so he should be getting the canter down now, yes? Does he have that big 'ol extended trot?
Griffon is 11 and we bought him four years ago as part of a pair with our other horse Theo. They were competing at Prelim level in CDEs with a man who lived in South Carolina. Neither of them had much under saddle work and both had unbalanced canters, but they are an incredible pair in harness as you probably noticed. They've been very good to us. It didn't take much work to get them going nicely under saddle and we've had quite a bit of luck competing with them in English flat classes, and now Griffon in the mini eventing series. With three little kids it's hard to do very much competing.
We get to do some trail riding occasionally and the kids are finally big enough that the whole family can go out. The oldest one rides by herself and we ride double with the two smaller ones. We like to go horse camping in the mountains. I'll post a picture of us out on a trail ride in the Eastern Sierras. And a few weeks ago we were asked to give the mayor of Pasadena a ride on our carriage in a parade. Griffon is our babysitter and takes our six year old in walk/trot classes. The little Welsh pony is too scary for her! When we go on the trail we have to put her on Theo because when she rides Griffon he walks so slowly they're always lagging behind. But with anyone else riding him he walks right out. He's such a sweetheart. There isn't a day that goes by where we don't say how much we love these horses and how lucky we were to find them. We haven't found anything they can't do, they're level headed and they learn so quickly. They are absolutely perfect for our family. My sister in law liked ours so much she bought three for herself!
Well, I was working on my web site using one of our horses as a model and I needed to show his pedigree. I was on the CLRC site looking for the names and I accidentally clicked the View Progeny button thinking I had clicked the View Extended Pedigree button. I was totally disoriented when I saw Griffon's name as Sire. Whaaat??? So it turns out we own your horse's dad - and he is a gelding - which is why I was completely befuddled.
I'd love to see pictures of Kanuc. Are the insides of his ears orange? If he's anything like Griffon, you have an absolute gem. We jokingly call him Saint Griffon because of how kind and careful he is with our kids. I could go on and on about how perfect he is in every way. He's the horse on the far right of the picture I posted. There are some pictures of him from last weekend at www.EquiStudioProductions.com/Griffon.html.
Oh and some older pictures at http://www.lockwoodvalleyranch.com/2004_L~1.HTM
I'll post the address of his "model" page when I'm done with it either late tonight or tomorrow.
Hi Kathy - Welcome to NECC! We're glad to have you join us.
As I told Clare, we are still hoping someone from CT can participate on the Board or volunteer on a committee. If either of you have any interest, please let me know.

So how did you end up buying Kanuc?
