That is awesome. It would be great if you could pop him up to fourth by next year. We are hoping to start out at second. I think there will be a few more at first. For shows up here, to do four, its a lot of out of state travel and a big financial committment. Thats a big hurdle for working towards an all breed medal. But at least at GMHA spring this year there were two Canadians in the same show!! Yea!
Hey Susan, Patriote competed at Third at two licensed shows here this year, did very well. I'm hoping to bring him out at Fourth next year. Congrats on the USDF medal! My young stallion will be competing next year too, so we should have a good representation of the breed here in Maryland! I've seen D'Artangnan as well, the owners contacted me and wanted me to take him in for training. He seems like a nice horse. Let me know if you can make it to EA!
Hi Susan! We showed a bit at the beginning of the season and then took the year to train. Patriote is moving up and we needed the year to really solidify his changes. We're heading up with Patriote and Rising Star to Equine Affair in MA in November - are you planning on going?
Hi Susan: Yes Erika does know you, said she was in contact w/you this past year. I met her when I boarded my other horse at the upper barn, near Peter's house. I really liked it there but Erika left the boarding business to focus on training and teaching. CB is where she went and I followed.
Do you have a Schleese saddle? I checked out there web site and will have to save up for one, they look really nice.

Hi Susan: Thank you for all the work you've done w/USDF on behalf of the Canadian horses. It's been my dream to compete at a recognized show, but my other horse just broke down way too young. We only made it to training level at schooling shows. I hope Raydar will hold up better. I plan to take him to a schooling show at Appleknoll just for a walk about. I don't think he has ever seen that much activity and want to be on the ground with him and not nervious, which I get when I show.
Yes I do board at Coursebrook and yes they just had a memorial service for the dad at the farm last weekend. My trainer is there, that's why I'm there and there is also a great trail system because the town owns many large pieces of land near by which are in conservation.
Thank you for the saddle advice. I'll check out the website.

Hi Susan: I saw that Echo was at Beland. I used to do the schooling shows there w/my old horse and hope to take Raydar there next year. It's a great place w/ plenty of room to warm up or chill out. Congratulations on doing recognized shows!! I didn't know that USDF had a "Canadian" catagory (other than warmblood)?

Hi susan- I haven't been getting notified when people write on my wall so sorry about the late reply. Milou did fine in the new ring four even though his head went higher and higer down the centerline when he saw the cows behind the judges booth! It was the really sloppy footing in the warmup area down there that I really didn't like- My boy wouldn't pick up the canter at all. He did good in ring three and I was really surprised that he went through the big puddle (bless him!) I did the Combined Test at GMHA in May and we did dressage on grass- we didn't like that becasue he slipped behind - he's not shod behind- and then tensed up for the rest of the test- the only time I got comments about being above the bit! still managed to win though! I don't do many recognised shows because I am at an eventing barn only 15 minutes from GMHA and I don't have my own trailer so I have to fit in my dressage shows around thir schedule. There is a young girl Elena Collins who I have met at Hitching Post who rides Du Cocteau Dandy Lyrical. She competed at the August Horse Trials at GMHA at training level (WOW!) and did great! She is not on this site but If I see her I will try to get her to join. I hope to be at the CVDA schooling show in September and do 1st Level 1. I think Milou will be going to Southern Pines this winter with my trainer. It will really get him fit and expose him to more XC. Also a nice break from the brutal cold up here and riding all winter in the indoor arena . We can't hack outside in the winter very often because he only has borium on his fronts and it is very hilly around here. I hope your summer has been going well.
Thanks for your comments on the canter! It has been an "uphill" battle! I purchased him in November 2007, and his canter only came together this spring. I have done all the riding myself, but I work weekly with a dressage coach in my area. Luckily, Walter also lives in the area, so when I can afford it, I ride with him as well. (maybe twice a year!) His registered name is Providence Yukon Phoenix if you want to look up his lines. There is a gelding for sale in my area that you can find on CanadianHorseLink.com ...Lou II Ray (barn name I cannot remember) I have seen him, and the photos and videos do not present a true representation at all!!! He is a beautiful horse! He was just too young when I was looking to buy. Thanks again for the kind words,
Trudy
I think I will try the fly sheets. Both my boys like to chew on each other's clothing so I don't even leave the breakaway halters on them any more. But perhaps if I spray the fly sheets with a no-chew product it will deter the tug-o-war in the pasture. . Dover has some fly sheets on sale, so I'll give it a try. Thanks for responding.
