I would love to know if anyone will be in Southern Pines, NC this winter. My horse is going down with my trainer for several months in Feb and I would love to meet up with any other Canadian owners and trail ride on the Walthour-Moss Foundation acre…
I assume you are referring to the Equine Affaire in Springfield, MA in November. I checked the schedule and the Canadian breed demonstration is on the first day. There should be several Canadians there. I went for the first time last year and got to…
In reference to Susan's post about the incorrect listing of Moses I had that problem when I registered for a USDF show at GMHA. When I called the show secretary to correct another error that was made in my registration (they entered me in the wrong…
Hi Debbie: Did you find either saddle to be the "one" for you? I have tried a friend's Passier and loved it. But it is out of my price range right now. I will consider trying it again in the future when Raydar's back is more developed.
We did have a nice trail ride and of course he got spooked by a small herd of deer. Fortunately I was able to redirect him towards the deer and encouraged him to chase after them. One the way home we ran into the same 3 deer, running up hill directly towards us. Raydar successfully redirected them away from our trail. He is such a good boy and a fast learner.
Are you going to a horse trial on Oct 10th?
Karen
Hi Debbie: I too have a Wintec Pro and use the wide gullet (white). I bought it when I rode my Tb who was difficult to fit and the deal was I got all the gullets for free. I find it quite comfortable and w/a Thinline Pad it doesn't slide forward on Raydar. I've tried both Duett models and they do not fit him well enough to justify the purchase. I've tried many saddles and think I should wait to see how his back changes with time and training. His training is coming along well, so my trainer says. I think he is great, now that the bugs are gone, we're trail riding again and I find him very trust worthy. I think I'll bring him to a schooling show just for a walk about, to see how he reacts in a crowd.
Good luck w/ the show at the end of Sept! Karen
Hi Deb, Thanks for posting your photos, its good to have another Canadian out there showing! Glad you liked ring 4, Duke sure did not. I don't know exactly why but he was really unsettled. His favorite has always been the grass ring but with the new ring 4 they are not using the grass! This year has been a real strange one with the bad weather he has not been consistant so its been challenging to figure out what the issue is. We know he loves the shows, he doesn't want to leave!
We are at the USDF UNH show today. Footing is better and he is so much happier to go home at nite since its so close. ...There is one judge that was at GMHA, don't know if you noticed how unusually tough she scores. On another note, Deb, will you be able to go to four recognized shows this year and try and qualify for the USDF All Breed medal at Training level??? That would be great if you could!
Hi, yes that was and I wish I knew you were there! Darn! I am so sorry I missed you and that you did not stop by our barn. Duke had a real hard time with the footing at GMHA as he is afraid of slipping, he had a devastating fall some years ago. He did not do very well at all between that and the huge puddles. His self survival instinct really kicks in. We had one really great test that if he had not hesitated with a large puddle. But Jess was coached by Jackie Smith there and really picked up some good riding tips. That show is always so much fun and such a beautiful setting. Plus the stalls were redone - grated windows and mats! How did Milou like the moving mooing cows next to ring 4?????
Hi Debbie: Wow you do inspire me!! Where is the show and what is your horses name? My "Raydar" just turned 4 this week, so we haven't done much. Also am trying to find a dressage saddle that fits him and me. He is not as big as your guy, 15.3hh, 1150lbs and I;m used to a wide tree, but w/ a narrow twist. Any suggestions?
Karen
Hi Debbie, so you own Milou now? that is fantastic! I remember seeing him at Alison Eastman's barn.He is a beautiful horse.Have a blast with him - hope to run into you eventing next year ! -Tori
