The NEFHC Topsfield show will be an important show for us this year. We need to make a huge effort to promote our breed at this show. The 2009 Topsfield Show sponorship forms will be available online soon. We would like to get a head start and be prepared to help make the show a big success . Please start to plan ahead so that you can support the ONLY New England show to offer Canadian Horse classes. Members are encouraged to join the NECC Topsfield show committee. Even if you are not going to be showing you can still be a participant. Updates will be posted on the show as they become available.
This years show will run on June 26,27 and 28. The dressage classes will be held on Friday evening this year. if there are enough entrants the halter classes will be split into age groups. The under saddle and driving classes will be Saturday and the championship classes will be Sunday. The Canadian classes will still be halter, pleasure and dressage suitability, all of which have championship classes for those who qualify. There are also open classes to participate in both under saddle and driving. http://www.nefhc.com/classicshow.html
There has been an Open Pleasure Driving Singles/Pairs class at the Classic. There's generally a good turnout for that class (although last year I think there were only 2 entrants) and I'd love to see Canadians drive at the show.
This show is at the Topsfield Fair grounds in Topsfield Massachusetts. It's on the north shore of Massachusetts not far from the coast and not far from the New Hampshire state line.
Yes I think it really depends on the turnout and participation. I love seeing the yearlings and 2 year olds out there and it's not fair for them to compete with adults - but last year there weren't any yearlings at all and I don't think there were any 2 year olds either. Maybe just one?
Of course we can enter any open classes but I'd like to see Canadian halter classes and have them divided between 4 and under and 5 and over if we think there will be a big enough turnout to support it. I think that recognizes Canadians are slow to mature and I think 4 year olds are still babies.
I'd like to see Canadian walk/trot and Canadian dressage suitability.
Oh I'd also like to lobby for the photographer - Jeff Anderson, eighthgeneration.net. He takes some seriously good pictures. What you'd expect from a professional. The photographer that was there 2 years ago was really awful.
I'd like to see a big turnout for this year's Classic. It's a fun show.
I just received the word that this years show will run on June 26,27 and 28. The dressage classes will be held on Friday evening this year. if there are enough entrants the halter classes will be split into age groups. The under saddle and driving classes will be Saturday and the championship classes will be Sunday. There are also open classes to participate in both under saddle and driving.
I still do not have the class sponsorship forms but I will post them as soon as I receive them. There are also opportunities to advertise your farm in the show program.
When I asked about reserving the premium stalls located inside the arena, I was told that if we send our stall reservations in as a group, we have a better chance of getting them. That is something for us to consider.
If there are any questions feel free to drop me a note.

i think there are 2 important things for the canadian horse people to do this year regarding this show. 1st would be to really come up with sponsors for our classes, have people in the horse business place ads in there program, really make it financially beneficial to have canadian horses there. terri really went out on a limb to add us, and the last few years i have had to struggle to get people to financially support this show. the other important thing would be participation. i have taken as many horses as i could afford to each year to help get the numbers up, i believe the first year i took 7 down. i have tried to push people of all levels to attend as there are walk/trot classes as well as more advanced things. many people have responded by saying "next year"
I dare say next year has arrived, and everyone who has thought about going needs to step up and show there horse. this is the only show who has given us a chance and i would hate to see us lose it. anyhow, thats my 2 cents. I'll be there and as always am willing to pick up peoples horses on the way. i can fit 7, and the offer stands to swing by and get someone who has no trailer to get there. hopefully everyone will get excited and see this as a chance to show off these horses.

I would love to have Kruiser go. I am thinking of asking a friend's daughter to ride him and maybe show him under saddle this year. He loved the one show I drove him in last summer. I don't ride well enough to work with him under saddle.

Does anyone know if the dressage classes are open to an unregistered horse? I am hopeful to take my new filly to show in the in-hand class for Canadians - but if I'm already gonna be there,I'm thinking I would throw my 1/2 Canadian eventer on the trailer too,and just toss him in a couple dressage classes.(but he isn't registered)Just a thought.
And I am defintely interested in sponsoring a class...or two....so anyone involved in that please feel free to contact me - or direct me to the person I should approach about it.
Stay warm today everyone ! brrrrrr!
