New England Cheval Canadien

The Canadian Horse was widely represented at the 2008 annual Equine Affaire this past week. In total there were six canadian horses from three different farms throughout North America. The breed demo, although rearranged due to a round pen in the arena, went off without a fumble and all performing horses and riders put on a wonderful display.

Although the booth was missing from the Breed Pavilion this year, I don't think that stopped dedicated Le Cheval Canadien lovers from venturing to C Barn in search of our horses. I'd like to thank Normand Litjens and his group and Sue Heath and family who always consistently come to Equine Affaire with some of their finest horses. A special thanks goes out to MJ Proulx and Kimberely Beldam-Saylor for making such long trips from CAN and MD to promote our wonderful breed and put on an exceptional performance. Kimberely is doing a wonderful job with Jospatriote and as MJ would say, they are a 'dynamite team', very exciting to watch!

I would also like to extend recognition and support to Cathleen Hall, President of the CHBA for attending the event two years in a row. Her presence makes a huge difference in my book and I'm so glad to be able to network and talk horse with her! Between our groups, we potentially hope to revive a booth next year with the help of those who have participated in the past and continue to work together to introduce the canadian horse and educate the world all about our little known treasure and their wonderful qualities.
