Our local dressage star "Duke" owned by Susan Correia, will be competing at the NEDA Spring Dressage Show this weekend. This is a great opportunity to see one of our Canadians in dressage. I hope to see some of you there in support of this amazing horse.

This is this weekend. The weather forecast is looking good. Hope to see some people there. I will be going to support Sue and Duke. Hopefully I will catch some of the Grand Prix rides as well.
Thanks Dream Horse for the support by being there! Jess and Duke didn't get to do a schooling show before our first recognized USDF show of the year so we were very pleased with how Duke did and how much he seems to enjoy being at a three day over nite. He remembered the facility and this year we did not have the pouring rains, only 30 mile winds. I have never seen so many upper level horses dangerously full galloping loose at a show! Lots of questions from people as he was the only Canadian and great comments on his "dressage" conformation. Huge classes so we were thrilled with a fourth, third, and second and a good start for the qualifying scores for the USDF all breed award ...including "8" for his leg yields. USDF level judging at a recognized show seems to average 10 points tougher than a schooling show and you are competing against really professionally trained warmbloods from show barns from all over NE. I read the class for Jess, mostly for him, as he relaxes in the ring better. .... He is getting more used to schooling in the crowded warm up rings with grand prix movements around him, last year he totally was confused to see some of the piaffe and huge Grand Prix horses doing big extensions , I could read his mind as to trying to figure out if the horses were scared or a threat to him. Constantly thinking of how different a horse that grew up in a herd of two hundred on 600 acres reacts to some new experiences... Back home to relax this week, he has all day turnout and we are careful to mix ring work with hacking out.
