Canadian Classes included at Friesian Show during Topsfield Fair!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ok everyone, I have gone out on a limb again for this breed. The friesian club has agreed to include Canadian Classes at the show at topsfield fair even after out EXTREMELY POOR showing of Canadians at their usual show. This will be our chance to redeem ourselve. If your not ready to show - GET READY!!!!
We are running the risk of losing our classes at their show next year. We had horrible low number of candians at the show, like 9. It seems that the regular people who have supported the show from the beginning showed up, and thank you to everyone who came, but no new supporteres. everyone talks about wanting classes, which we have managed to get but the only way to keep them is to get good numbers in them. So PLEASE come out and support this breed. I know money is tight but PLEASE save a bit (the show is a couple months away) and come out and support the friesian club and say thank you for giving us a chance

Sue can we get some dates, location details about this show so we can post it as an event and start promoting attendance.

I also know that I in particular had been planning on showing all spring, but when it came time to show, I just couldn't afford the trip. I am certain the economy is effecting everyone and I am not the only one in this situation. I wonder if there are things we can do together to help get more folks to the show. Teaming up, cutting costs somehow, etc. I'm writing this here so that others will read/respond with their input and ideas or problems.

I will get exact dates, i want to say it is beginning of october during topsfield fair. i am willing to pick up anyone on my way through NH or vermont. I can borrow a 7horse trailer which would leave at least 4 empty spots. Believe me, I get having no money - I'm right there with you. Lets see what we can do in order to keep our classes

This is great news. My horses are all moved. My farm is now in Marshfield. I saw Terry at the feedstore the other day. She understood why I could not make it to the show. My dad is still very sick but he left Intensive care on Thursday. It has been a long ten weeks.

Although I did not make it to the show I still contributed $150.00 in sponsorships. I hope that counts for something.

This is a wonderful opportunity for people to see Canadian Horses!

I fully understand the challenges bringing horses to events like this. It costs time and money. To both prepare for and attend. But here's an opportunity to call attention to Canadian Horses and we're it. We're Canadian Horse people. If we don't get our horses out there nobody is going to see Canadian Horses.

Please, all of you, think about bringing your horse(s) to the fair. Many people, most people, have never heard of Canadian Horses and I find they're *always* thrilled to see them and learn about them. I'm thrilled to have people see them.

I would love to go but I have a horse trials on Oct 10. I would only be showing in the dressage suitability and since I would have to have someone pick me up in Central VT it is too far to go for 1 class. I have also never done this type of show. I strongly believe we need to represent the breed at every opportunity. At the June Dressage Show at GMHA (USDF sanctioned) one of my judges was curious what breed my horse was and when I told her a Canadian Horse she had never heard of the breed.

I personally will not be showing any horses there; but perhaps Johanna might bring Mick if she wants to.
I had a terriable experience at the show the one and only time I showed at Topsfield. Then after the show got a huge bill for suprise fees as well...I won't ever be showing there again. I wish you all well, I'll stick to smaller shows.

Sue, do you have any idea what the dressage suitability classes are set up like? Will they be held in a dressage arena outside the indoor arena? I sponsored several Canadian classes in the past and even showed him in hand a few years ago but it wasn't the kind of situation I want to put him in again. The arena footing was way too deep and the atmosphere in the arena had far too much distraction in the stands for what is good for my guy. Is this the kind of class where there are more than a few horses in the ring at the same time?

Where is topsfield...? I'm from CT but my in-laws have a nice house 20 mins. north of Killington in VT. Anywhere near there?

25 miles north of Boston.

I'm so bummed that this show is on weekdays...I really can't play hooky from school. My classroom isn't one of those that can have substitute teachers.

Summer, this is just north of Boston and south of the NH border.
